Applications for Raman Instrument Systems
Raman instrument systems, like spectroscopes, are used for microscopic analysis with 0.5 to 1 microns spatial resolution. Raman microscopes use a Raman spectrometer and standard optical microscope technology for high magnification and analysis of the sample. You can analyze micron-size particles, different layers in a sample and contaminants underneath a transparent layer.

The Raman probe is a fiber bundle that routes excitation light from the laser to the sample. The probe collects Raman scattered light. It is highly versatile to suit many Raman spectroscopy laboratory applications while offering high OD laser line filtering and strong signal collection. We have excitation wavelength options of 532, 638, 785 and 1,064 nanometers and FC-SMA and SMA-SMA connections.
Raman Probe Holder
The Raman probe holder holds several liquid and solid samples for Raman analysis. The holder can be configured for various measurements, such as fluorescence, and probe sizes from 9.5 to 12.7 millimeters in diameter.
We have two models — the OOA-HOLDER-RFA and OOA-RAMAN-SH. The OOA-HOLDER-RFA is compact and lightweight, with a design that protects against damage from probe and cuvette contact. The OOA-RAMAN-SH model has a positioning screw to get the best laser focus on the sample. Both probe holders accommodate various sized probes and cuvettes and offer a convenient means of Raman sampling of solids and liquids.
Surfaced enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrates allow trace-level detection of samples by amplifying weak Raman signals by many magnitudes. This amplification can help detect trace levels of narcotics and pesticides and controlled additives in food ingredient screening. The substrates have a high-sensitivity gold or silver, which lets you make quick and repeatable quantification and identification measurements. Since they are stable, you can store them at room temperature. They do not need special handling practices.
